Jio Platforms listed on 28 October at ₹1,358 on both NSE and BSE, 21.36% above the ₹1,119 issue price, according to the Free Press Journal. That is a gain of ₹239 a share. At that price the company is worth about ₹12.5 lakh crore, which makes it the second most valuable listed company in India behind Reliance Industries (₹16.15 lakh crore) and ahead of Bharti Airtel (₹12.18 lakh crore), per BSE data cited in the same report.
What a listing gain means in rupees
One lot is 12 shares, so the ₹239 gain is ₹2,868 on a lot bought at the issue price. A retail investor who bid the maximum of 14 lots (168 shares, ₹1,87,992) and received the full allotment would be ahead by ₹40,152 on paper at the listing price. Retail demand was 2.72 times the shares reserved, so most bidders received fewer lots than they applied for, and many received none.
Issue price, grey market price and listing price
Jio Platforms, ₹ per share
The grey market got the level about right. Our tracker's last recorded GMP, on 25 October, was ₹247, which implied ₹1,366. The share listed ₹8 lower. The grey market premium is an unofficial quote and not a forecast, and it moved between ₹240 and ₹273 over the week, but this time it pointed close to where the stock opened.
How it compares with this year's other listings
Among the 99 mainboard IPOs listed in 2026 before Jio, the average listing gain is 14.4% and the median is 7.9%, and 23 of them listed below their issue price. Jio's 21.4% is above both. Bigger issues do not always list well; an offer of ₹30,213 crore needed a lot of buyers, and it found them.
Who drove the demand
Overall the issue was subscribed 22.19 times. Qualified institutional buyers bid 70.55 times their quota, against 14.09 times for non-institutional investors and 2.72 times for retail. Reliance shareholders bid 7.6 times their portion, and employees 2.93 times. The anchor round had raised ₹8,109.85 crore from 212 investors before the issue opened.

What happens next
The listing gain is a one-day number. Whether the shares hold the premium depends on how institutions that were allotted a small share of their large bids decide to trade, and on whether the tariff increases the brokerages expect arrive. We covered the pricing, about 32 times FY26 earnings, in our IPO review. Live figures for every IPO, including this year's listing statistics, are on the IPO dashboard.
